After a tough night, I finally arrived at the station the next morning. Looking at the subway map in confusion, I wondered where to go? To places I had been before?
In the end, I got off at People's Square. There are cheap hostels here, and only after checking in did I realize why the accommodation could be as low as 55 yuan a day. A room of less than a hundred square meters was crammed with eight beds, and a faint smell of smoke lingered in the air, making the no-smoking sign on the wall seem insignificant. My personal space was limited to a single bed. How should I put it? It was even more cramped than a six-person dorm at school. :@(sweat)
The environment of this hostel pushed me to quickly find a suitable job. I asked the receptionist and a roommate about job opportunities. Due to the pandemic, everyone felt that it was hard to find good jobs this year. Because it was raining, I didn't go outside to look. I spent the whole afternoon browsing Boss Zhipin and finally found a job that offered short-term accommodation. I immediately went for an interview at a company 12 kilometers away. I didn't encounter the pitfalls of recruitment that I had read about online; everything went quite smoothly. They asked me to attend a three-day paid training session starting the day after tomorrow. If all goes well, this job is stable—a sales customer service position with a salary of 3000, accommodation included, and commission on sales. Just barely, better than nothing. :@(poop)
Having stabilized for now, I had a bowl of Chongqing noodles for dinner, which cost 14 yuan, the cheapest noodles at the noodle shop. Life felt cramped, and I hung my head in disappointment. After crossing several streets, I finally found a convenience store: a piece of chicken breast, a set of toothbrush and toothpaste, a box, a bottle of Coke, a bottle of shower gel, and a pork bun—all for 50 yuan.
Back at the dorm, I asked my roommates about their jobs. There was a night shift at a hotel front desk where the boss said you could sleep whenever you wanted, working only half a month, all night shifts, for 3000.
There were also those who had failed in their startups and were living here, and some who were aspiring actors, looking quite handsome and capable, but unfortunately, they hadn't made it big yet.
I also encountered people in the elevator who were purely there to have fun, with messy hair and flip-flops. I really couldn't understand how they could enjoy themselves in such a small hostel.
I got the receptionist's WeChat; she was very pretty, with expressive eyes. Unfortunately, after not replying to her messages promptly a few times, she seemed to lose interest in continuing the conversation with me.
There was also a matter where Qiqi asked me to find her and sent me her address, inviting me to her home. I might have been too cautious and declined her invitation again. She directly deleted me, and now I feel a bit regretful, but unfortunately, she is ignoring me. :@(helpless)
